Finding Your Way Around Efteling
Efteling is one of the largest theme parks in Europe, and you'll notice that as soon as you step inside. The park has grown organically since opening in 1952, resulting in a charming but sometimes confusing layout. However, with good preparation and the right tools, you can navigate effortlessly through the World of Wonders.
The Efteling App
The best tool for navigation is the official Efteling app, available free for iOS and Android. The app offers an interactive map with GPS location, real-time waiting times for all attractions, and the ability to mark your favourites. You can plan routes and see where the nearest facilities are.
Landmarks
Several recognisable landmarks help you find your way:
- The Pagoda: Visible from large parts of the park, this rotating tower is an excellent reference point.
- Baron 1898: The high lift structure can be seen from afar and marks the Ruigrijk area.
- Symbolica: The imposing palace is a central point in Anderrijk.
- The Steam Train stations: There are three stations that help you orientate and travel quickly.
Efficiently Exploring the Park
To beat the crowds, we recommend heading straight to the most popular attractions at opening. Baron 1898, Symbolica and The Flying Dutchman often have the longest queues. Later in the day you can visit the quieter attractions and the Fairy Tale Forest.
The Steam Train and Monorail are not only fun attractions but also practical means of transport. The Steam Train stops at three locations and can take you quickly from one side of the park to the other.
For Visitors with Disabilities
Efteling is largely wheelchair and pushchair friendly, with paved paths throughout the park. At the entrance you can get a map with specific accessibility information. Wheelchairs and scooters can be hired at the entrance.
Rest and Meeting Points
The park has various rest areas where you can take a break. The shores of the lakes, benches in the Fairy Tale Forest, and restaurant terraces offer places for a pause. As an agreed meeting point in case of getting separated, the statue of the Gnome (near the main entrance) or Anton Pieck Square is often used.
